What are the festival rules? As a relaxed and friendly off-grid family campsite, we have a few common sense simple rules to ensure everyone enjoys their stay. Thanks for taking the time to read this - if you agree that these simple rules make sense then you'll love our little family festival. Access & Camping: Camping is included in your event ticket. This is only suitable for tents and small campervans. Vehicles over 2.7m tall will not be able to access the site due to low bridges. Trailer tents, caravans and motorhomes are not permitted. Gazebo's are not permitted for this event. Car Parking is not included in your festival tickets. Car Parking tickets can be purchased separately and are required for all vehicles onsite. Festival quiet night policy: As a family friendly festival we have a 'Quiet Night' policy from 11pm until 7:30am in the camping areas of the site. We simply ask that you do not disturb others during this time. You are welcome to stay up late quietly chatting around the fire; however, after 11pm singing, screaming, shouting or running engines in the camping areas is not acceptable. Please expect noise from the arena area of the site until midnight on both Friday and Saturday night. After midnight, we ask that you return to your tents and noise is kept to a minimum. Music: Quiet, non-amplified background music from a phone or radio is okay as long as it cannot be heard beyond your camping area. All music/speakers must be off by 11pm. Driving after dark: For everyone's safety we do not allow vehicles to be moved after dark. Please do not run engines or use your headlights. If you arrive back at camp after dark simply park by the entrance and walk to your tent. Fires: Fire pits and BBQs are encouraged - as long as they are raised off the ground. Please do not forage wood from our ancient woodland - protecting the woodland is part of our licence and our future as a public campsite depends on it. Bags of logs and kindling are available to buy in the campsite shop. Fire pits and BBQs cannot be bought into the arena area. Behaviour: We ask for respect from all our guests: respect for the land, the facilities and others. We have zero tolerance for aggressive or disrespectful behaviour towards other campers or our team. Alcohol: You are welcome to enjoy a few beers around the campfire with friends and family. However, as a family campsite with children and open fires, we expect you to drink responsibly at all times. We have zero tolerance for drunken or abusive behaviour. You will not be permitted to take your own alcohol into the Arena area of the festival site. We will have a well stocked bar available all weekend. Dogs: Dogs are not permitted at the Harvest Home Family Festival weekend. Complaints: Our team are a very friendly bunch and we genuinely appreciate the opportunity to rectify things whilst you are with us. We always appreciate fair reviews but please review us based on how we handled your issues rather than on problems we did not get a chance to rectify. Important Information Access: Due to low bridges, tight bends, and steep uneven tracks, Basecamp is not accessible to any vehicle over 2.7m high, towing vehicles, caravans, trailer tents or really low-riding vehicles. All vehicles are driven onsite at your own risk. Responsibility: Mendip Basecamp cannot accept responsibility for loss of or damage to goods or injury to the extent that such liability can be lawfully excluded. Vehicles and tents and their contents are left at your own risk. We cannot be held responsible for any loss of or damage from or to any vehicle or its contents whatsoever. Generators: generators are not permitted due to noise and fumes. Weather: As much as we would love to be able to control the weather, unfortunately, we cannot and the British summertime can be unpredictable. Please pitch your tent carefully, especially in high wind conditions. Mendip is not liable for any damage to tents, including due to extreme weather. We have storm pegs available to buy in the camp shop. Health & Safety: We are committed to making your experience as safe as possible. All activities and venues are regularly risk assessed. Our campsite facilities are cleaned and checked regularly. Please inform our team if you find anything not quite up to standard. Wristbands: For safeguarding reasons we provide all our guests with a Basecamp wristband. There is space to write a mobile number on child bands so we can reunite you easily in case any get misplaced. Camping Club: You will automatically become a member of Mendip's camping and caravan club. This is a condition of our camping license - don't worry we won't contact you about this and you don't have to fill out any forms. Ticks: Ticks can be found in long grass, woodland, open country, public parks and gardens. You can avoid tick bites by keeping to paths, avoiding vegetation, wearing light clothing so ticks are easier to spot and brush off and using insect repellent. Check your clothes and your body regularly for ticks when you're outdoors and when you get home. For advice on removing ticks and what to do if you get a bite, visit this link.

Where is Mendip Basecamp?Mendip Basecamp is located within the grounds of Mendip Activity Centre. Mendip Activity Centre, Lyncombe Drive, Churchill, BS25 5PQ. Follow signs up the drive, keeping to the right rather than entering the main carpark on the left. After a hairpin bend, you will go under the ski slope bridge. Continue driving past Mendip Lodge. Continue to follow the signs to Mendip Basecamp which will take you up the hill up a track to the camping field. Basecamp check in takes place in the huge white marquee in the middle of the field, the Pavilion. Click here for a Google maps link.
-
Can we bring a generator? We ask all customers to please not bring generators with you. There is USB charging available in the Pavilion for all customers to use.
-
Can I pitch my tent anywhere?Yes! We want to keep things as relaxed as possible so we don’t have pitches. Our camping field is massive so there will be plenty of options of where to pitch.
-
Can I camp near my friends?Yes! We don't have pitches, just various 'zones'. It does not matter if you book at the same time or together, just find each other on-site.
-
Can I park by my tent?Yes, you can park next to your tent. Our field and track can be quite bumpy and uneven in places so please take it steady and driving in the camping field is done so at your own risk. We do limit vehicle movement after dark. If you’ve been out for the evening and get back after 10pm there is an overnight parking area near the entrance to the field. You can park up here for the night and walk back to your pitch. Please always drive very carefully and with the assumption that children are playing nearby. We have a strictly enforced, zero tolerance, 5mph speed limit. Car Parking is not included in your festival ticket. Car Parking tickets can be purchased separately.
-
Why aren't trailer-tents, caravans or large motorhomes allowed?Basecamp is a basic, off-grid camp without the facilities and services caravans and motorhomes usually expect. Our camp can only be accessed by a steep road with a tight hairpin bend which is not ideal for towing vehicles. There is also a low, sloping bridge with a low point of 2.7m which restricts access to tall vehicles. Trailer-tents are welcome if you are confident your vehicle has the torque to get up to the camp and understand the limited facilities available.
-
Is there a washing up area?Yes, we do have a few wash up areas around the site. Please bring your own washing up liquid and tea towels
-

We would recommend bringing a picnic blanket and/or camp chair for the outdoor cinema and your best dancing shoes (which may well be wellies!) for the live music! We will go ahead whatever the weather so make sure you pack suncream and sun hats (for the optimists) and wet weather gear (for the pessimists!)
